I thought this impossible until I found out about the 501st Legion. Here's a selection from their Legion Charter:
"The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion's aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work"
Volunteer work while pretending to be a fictional soldier of a tyrannical Empire? Sign me up!
It's not that easy- you have to get armor. Since there's no one-stop-shop for armor it's up to you to find the resources to get the pieces. Once you have the pieces you have to put it all together. Then, it has to be approved by the Legion.
This blog will chronicle my efforts to reach that goal, joining the 501st. It's a matter of dedication, money, and time, but it's something I've always wanted to do.
So stay tuned for the following, weeks? months? years? and we'll see if I come out of "boot camp" a Stormtrooper!
